What is Glennon House Inc.?
In April 2000 a group of Christians of various denominations saw the problems facing people from rural areas who must come to the city to get the medical help that is not available in regional areas, and decided to do something to help. . More than 20,000 people from outside Toowoomba were admitted to hospitals here last year, plus tens of thousands more attending out-patient or specialist services, or waiting for their baby to arrive. The opening of the radiology unit at St Andrew's in 2007 has made the need for budget accommodation for several weeks at a time even more acute. Glennon House Inc. is a registered not-for-profit charity , dependent at this stage on donations and its volunteers to offer its unique services at a budget price. Donations are tax deductible.
Glennon House is named in honour of Canon Jim Glennon, who led the healing ministry at St.Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney for many years. Canon Jim believed that we should pray for each other's well-being,and encouraged us to persevere with establishing Glennon House. He was our patron until his death in 2005.
